NCT Fare increase

Nottingham City Transport are increasing some of their fares from tomorrow (Sunday 5th June). They cite increased diesel bills and Marketing Manager, Anthony Carver-Smith said, “We know any increase in prices is unwelcome and we have worked very hard to freeze the main fares for children, students, families and monthly commuters. Internally, we have made efficiency savings and all staff groups have agreed to no increase in salary this year, to keep these price rises down to an absolute minimum”. The efficiency savings are good, but it leaves NCT open to more open road competition, with premiere dropping fares on its RED7 (competing from Mappperly shops to the City Centre with NCT Sky Blue Line 45) from £1.60 to £1.00. This leaves a difference of 70p and with premiere buses every 15 minutes (two less per hour than NCT) passengers may decide to take the cheaper service.
It also leaves the 36 route open for increased patronage loss to yourbus with a 20p difference between yourbus's £1.50 adult single and NCT's £1.70 adult single. The Pathfnder 100 Spring Sale has now finished too, after yourbus withdrew the y100 route due to low patronage. NCT has also not matched or bettered yourbus's QMC student and staff £1 offer, although on routes 34 and 36 all students go for a pound (with valid ID)
The new fares for NCT are below, with unchanged fares in green and increases in red. Decreases are shown by blue text.
