Buses diverted in Long Eaton, as contractors resurface roads

From Monday until Thursday this week, College Street was closed from 08:30 till 16:00 each day, due to contractors resurfacing the road. This meant that Trent Barton services My15 (Ilkeston-Sandiacre-Long Eaton-Old Sawley) and INDIGO (Nottingham-Beeston-Long Eaton-Briar Gate) and Gills Travel service 8 (Sandiacre-Long Eaton) were diverted away from the area. Originally the services were only diverted during the day, but according to Trent Barton the buses were being damaged during the night, because of the temporary road surface that the contractors laid down. This resulted in the following diversion being followed throughout the four days of diversion.

Buses on service My15 continued straight on on Derby Road, right at Wilsthorpe Island onto Petersham Road and straight on at the College Street junction to re-join the normal route. Buses on service INDIGO took this route too, but then went left onto Briar Gate after Wilsthorpe Island to re-join the normal route. Buses then went round Briar Gate estate and turned onto Wellington Street, where temporary stops were placed. These routes are shown on the map below. Gills Travel service 8 used Wellington Street in both directions, designated as a hail and ride area.

The contractors did not give out the best of information, as so often happens with road works, and the buses were diverted twice on Thursday, after the road was briefly reopened. Fortunately Trent Barton gave out excellent information, as always, both via Facebook and on the internet with their superbly clear map that is shown below. Gills Travel updated passengers via Facebook.
